Introduction to Concrete Pavers

What Are Concrete Pavers

More than 2000 years ago it was commonly said that "All roads lead to Rome". Those roads were built of painstakingly cut and fitted stone laid over a carefully constructed aggregate base. Many of those roads are still in use today.

While cobble-stone can still be had today, it has largely been replaced by a newer technology. Interlocking Concrete Pavers are not only stronger and less expensive than traditional stone, but they are available in a variety of shapes, colors, textures and can even be cut to look nearly identical to cobble, brick, or tabby.

Interlocking Concrete Pavers are suitable for all sized projects from small garden walkways to DOT maintained commercial roads. They are perfect for covering up old-unsightly poured-concrete, or for building new pool-decks, patios and driveways. Additionally, water-permeable pavers are the environmentally-friendly choice for preventing storm-runoff and water-pollution in your local area.

What Are They Made Of

As the name may suggest, concrete pavers are made of concrete injected into molds to form individual pavers. Concrete pavers are numerous individual units, not slabs of stamped concrete.

More specifically, concrete pavers are manufactured from a "no slump" concrete mix under extreme pressure and high frequency vibrations. Lowcountry Pavers have a compressive strength greater than 8,000 psi, a maximum water absorption of 5%, and will meet or exceed standard ASTM C-936.
